It has been very cold (the coldest winter in 30 years!) here.
Some days, it is too cold to walk.
And this is too bad, because for me there is something about walking out in the world which is conducive to the interior act of writing.
Brenda Ueland’s wrote about this connection between walking and writing in her book entitled If You Want to Write.
I went looking through my copy of the book for that particular quote, but (happily) I found different words, words I didn’t even know I was looking for.
Here they are:
“Know that it is good to work. Work with love and think of liking it when you do it. There is nothing hard about it but your anxious vanity and fear of failure.”
Yep.
Happy Valentines’ Day.
