Remember how I said that I never make it through the mail without laughing and crying?
From Janie in Atlanta: “I have been wondering what happened to Opal. Did she find her mom? Maybe you have an answer you just didn’t put in the book.”
From Jacob, Beth and Arlene (son, mother and grandmother) in Pennsylvania, who worked together to make a Flora and Ulysses cake for an edible book/cake contest at the library: “As it happened we won honorable mention but the real joy was that your book brought us together.”
From Sidra in San Francisco: “Whenever I read scary books, I put them down and read Flora and Ulysses instead.”
And from Madison in Missouri: “Hi Kate, it is Madi. I was wondering if you could send me a picture of you sitting on your piano bench again. Because my niece was coloring one day in my room and she is 3 and she grabs anything she can find so she grabbed the picture of you. I still have the picture but your head is purple.”
That is me: sitting on a piano bench, laughing, crying, moved, delighted. Grateful.
