Three wonders from a recent trip:
Two siblings in the row behind me on the plane singing “This Land is Your Land” as the plane taxied for take-off. The kids had beautiful voices. They sang the whole song. They harmonized. And it was beautiful.
Walking through the Minneapolis airport and having a woman grab my hand, squeeze it and say, “Thank you for your books.”
Sitting at the gate and listening to an elderly couple talk to each other.
She said: Don’t things go faster now?
He said: What things?
She said: Look, it’s raining.
He said: Do you want me to get you a cup of tea?
She said: That would be nice.
He said: I’ll be right back.
(He stayed where he was).
She said: It’s beautiful. It’s a beautiful rain, isn’t it?
He said: It is.
(He put his hand on top of her hand).
They sat there together, staring out at the rain.
