Last week, I did an event at the Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, Oregon with the Green Bean bookstore.
The theatre was full of readers, and I had so much fun talking and laughing and meeting with adults and children who are passionate about story.
In the green room, before I went on stage, there was a pile of stickers for the Alberta Rose Theatre and I took one and put it in my journal.
Now every morning when I open that notebook, I think: how lucky am I that I got to be there, in that beautiful theater, with all those readers?
And I think: Alberta Rose is a great name. Doesn’t she sound like someone who needs a story told about her?
And then I think: oh, stories—I want to keep telling them.
All of which is to say: looking at that sticker is a good way to start the day.
