And from a third grader teacher who reads The Tale of Despereaux out loud to her class every year: “. . . our hearts break and mend and break and mend again and again. But we all feel safe because we are together, reading.”
I wonder why this letter makes me cry.
Is it because it so beautifully articulates the power of reading aloud?
Or do I want to cry because my own eight-year-old heart was broken and mended, again and again by a teacher reading aloud?
In any case, in every case, thank you.
Thank you teachers who read aloud.
