A couple of months ago, a kid said to me, “Winn-Dixie is a rescue dog, right?”
And I said, “Yes. Sure. But you’ve heard that saying about who rescued who, haven’t you?”
“No,” said the kid. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“I just mean that Opal rescued Winn-Dixie and Winn-Dixie rescued her, too. Dogs change our lives.”
“Yeah,” said that kid. “Well, I knew that.”
So here’s a picture of my friend’s dog, Hazel.
Hazel is a rescue dog who just took her first trip to a cabin.
Hazel was given a chance for joy.
She embraced that chance with the whole of her self, and in doing that she has given joy to everyone around her.
So, who’s rescuing who?
