A week ago, I gave the Charlotte Zolotow lecture at the Wisconsin Book Festival in Madison.
When I stepped out on the stage, the house lights were dimmed; I couldn’t really see the audience at all.
After the lecture, the lights came up for Q and A.
Suddenly I could see everyone’s faces.
I am a shy person, an introvert, but when those lights came on and I saw everyone, I thought: this. This is where I want to be. Here. Connecting with these people, connecting through story.
