WHAT I SAW IN THE BOOKSTORE
Two kids, siblings probably.
The older one (7 years old, maybe
says to the younger one (4 or 5 years old): Sit down and we will do story time.
Younger one: No.
Older one: I said sit down and we will do story time.
Younger one: No, no, no.
Older: Okay, well, I am going to read you this story and we are going to do story time.
Younger one: No, I won’t.
Older one: Yes, you will!

I wandered off to look in a different section of the bookstore and when I returned, both kids were on the floor.
They were looking at a book.
The younger one was leaning against the older one.
Older: That’s the end.
Younger: Read it again.
Older: Okay.

I couldn’t tell what book they were reading.
And it doesn’t really matter, does it?

The photograph, by the way, is of one of my mother’s childhood books.
