“Magic is always impossible,” said the magician. “It begins with the impossible and ends with the impossible and is impossible in between. That is why it is magic.”

Those words are from The Magician’s Elephant.
When I typed them out, I was struck by the notion that you could substitute the word “writing” for magic and it would be just as true.
You could also substitute the words “movie-making.”
All of which is to say that the impossible has happened.
A beautiful, magical movie of the The Magician’s Elephant will premiere on Netflix next month.
In the meantime, I’m going to be going around the neighborhood putting copies of the movie tie-in edition of the book into Little Free Libraries.
