I received a letter from an eight year old who wanted me to know that her teacher read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane aloud to the class.
“And my teacher cried at the end and I told my mother about the book and now guess what? My mother is reading the book too! We are reading it together.”
Why does this letter please me so much?
Because the teacher is reading aloud to her class.
Because the mother and the daughter are reading together.
Because when we read together, we open our hearts to a story, open our hearts to each other.
We connect.
And that’s miraculous.
