I was out walking Ramona yesterday, when a young child came out of the house and shouted, “Kate! What is your new book about?”
“Um,” I said. “Let’s see. Ghosts. Raccoons. Ferris wheels. Grandmothers. And chandeliers.”
“Okay,” said the kid. “I’ll read it.”
“Great. Thank you,” I said.
When I got home, I thought: wait! The book is also about words and family and bees and music and stars.
And love.
Mostly, it is a book about love.
Ferris will go out into the world today.
I hope everyone finds some love in it.
And a raccoon. Or two.
