A few summers ago, I overheard a short exchange between a child and a parent. The two of them were walking down the street when the kid stopped and bent over, inspecting something on the sidewalk.
The father kept walking, and the kid called out to him, “Wait! This is important.”
What was it that child was looking at?
A cicada shell? A flower petal? A chickadee feather?
I don’t know.
But I believe that it was important.
Einstein said, “There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
I think about that kid saying, “Wait! This is important!”
I keep trying to pay attention to all the little miracles, all the important things.
