I am thankful for foggy mornings, scrabble games, new moons, old moons, the Mississippi River. I am thankful for the crossing over of rivers and the crossing back. I’m thankful for bridges, and for people who laugh. I am thankful for constellations, instructions, mysteries. Lighted windows, crowded tables, train whistles. Mercy, kindness, patience. I am thankful for open doors, second chances, third chances, late arrivals, hope. And pumpkin pie. I am thankful for pumpkin pie.
