When I write a story, I carry around the words of it for a long time without ever speaking them aloud.
And then, if I am lucky, the story becomes a book, and the book goes out into the world.
And the words of the book, the names of the characters, get spoken aloud by other people.
The thrill of that never really goes away.
All of which is to say that seeing Raymie’s name on the cover of a book, hearing people say her name aloud—it’s been a big deal for me.
Raymie’s story will be out on April 12, 2016.
